A number of sites across West Birmingham and Sandwell, including the new multi-million pound Midland Metropolitan Hospital opening in October 2018, are set to transform patient care for up to 530,000 people in the area.
Researchers from the University of Alicante(UA) and Alicante General University Hospital's Institute for Health and Biomedical Research (ISABIAL) have developed a new non-invasive method for diagnosing and preventing colorectal cancer (CRC) through the analysis of volatile organic compounds in stool samples.
An international research consortium led by investigators at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the University of Chicago has answered several questions about the genetic background of obsessive-compulsive disorder and Tourette syndrome, providing the first direct confirmation that both are highly heritable and also revealing major differences between the underlying genetic makeup of the disorders.
With the realization that half of the people experiencing a sudden mortal heart attack were taking aspirin on the day of their demise, and the fact that higher-than-recommended doses of aspirin are needed to prevent blood clot formation in coronary arteries, coupled with an announcement that the red wine molecule resveratrol (rez-vair-ah-trawl) may protect from sudden mortal heart attack in a superior fashion to aspirin, suggests re-evaluation of cardiology's current instruction regarding prevention of heart attacks, says Nate Lebowitz MD, cardiologist with the Advanced Cardiology Institute in Ft.
