A pair of neurologists at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Monica P. Islam, MD, and E. Steve Roach, MD, are the editors behind "Neurocutaneous Syndromes," a recently published book that highlights the insights of neurocutaneous syndromes research and shows that "classic doctoring" still has a big role to play in diagnosis and treatment.
Despite technological advances, discrimination against consumers inhibited by disabilities or disadvantaged by personal circumstances remains a significant problem. Mobidiag Ltd, a Finnish molecular diagnostics company specialized in the development of innovative diagnostics solutions for infectious diseases, today announced the launch of Amplidiag C. difficile+027, a qualitative qPCR-based test performed from DNA extracted from stool in suspected cases of C. difficile infection (CDI).
Many of the drugs we use in hospitals – antibiotics, antifungals and anti-cancer drugs, to name but a few – are produced by bacteria that live in the soil beneath our feet.
Congress appears to be making progress on its huge social spending bill, but even if it passes the House as planned the week of Nov. 15, it's unlikely it can get through the Senate before the Thanksgiving deadline that Democrats set for themselves.
