Warner Chilcott plc today announced that it has agreed to terminate its existing co-promotion agreement with Novartis and signed a definitive agreement to purchase the U.S. rights to Enablex® from Novartis for $400 million in cash. Enablex (darifenacin) is a product indicated to treat adults with symptoms of overactive bladder, which had U.S. sales of approximately $190 million for the year ended December 31, 2009.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to claim lives throughout the world, the evidence is mounting that the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) affects the respiratory tract as well as the central nervous system. Now, a new study by German researchers published on the preprint server bioRxiv in June 2020 describes various neurological manifestations of COVID-19, as well as the underlying pathophysiology.
While tobacco use can significantly hamper cancer treatment, few cancer researchers are incorporating tobacco assessment into their clinical studies. That's the conclusion a group of investigators led by Graham Warren, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI), drew from a recent survey of cancer clinical trials.
Bangladesh will conduct the world's largest clinical trial of an affordable cholera vaccine which could save tens of thousands of lives. The study began Thursday and involves nearly 250,000 people near the capital, Dhaka.
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is proposing cutting $2.7 billion from that state's Medicaid program. Also, New Mexico's governor is proposing Medicaid patients pay more out of pocket if they go to the ER for care that's not an emergency. Georgia may drug-test Medicaid patients, and California Medicaid changes are questioned by patient advocates.
