ZOLL Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, announced today that more than 50,000 patients at high risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) have been prescribed the LifeVest Wearable Defibrillator.
Diaverum, one of the world's leading renal care providers, has signed a contract with Bureau Veritas (BV) to standardise ISO certifications within the company. A pilot project has successfully been rolled out in Hungary and Poland earlier this year. In 2013 the ISO certification project will be expanded to an additional five countries in Diaverum.
The Texas Senate on Wednesday voted 23-7 to approve a bill (S.B. 188) that would allow local state health agencies to run needle-exchange programs to help curb the spread of HIV and other bloodborne diseases among injection drug users, the Dallas Morning News reports. Texas is the only state that currently prohibits needle-exchange programs, according to the Morning News.
