Some lawmakers are questioning the powerful panel's ability to recommend changes to entitlement programs and the tax code. This group must present a deficit-reduction package to Congress by Nov. 23. Failure to do so would lead to across-the-board cuts to high-priority programs such as defense spending and Medicare.
The researchers used testosterone patches and injections that improved the breathing and exercise abilities of people with heart failure, a chronic inability of the heart to pump enough blood to the rest of the body. Although most of the study participants were men, the researchers said the results would likely apply to women as well, through much smaller doses of testosterone.
Patients with chronic constipation may be at increased risk of developing colorectal cancer and benign neoplasms, according to study findings unveiled today at the American College of Gastroenterology's (ACG) 77th Annual Scientific meeting in Las Vegas.
Xcellerex, Inc. announced today that it has begun construction of a state-of-the-art cGMP FlexFactory® biomanufacturing facility at its headquarters location in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Construction will be completed in September 2010. The facility, the second FlexFactory at the company's headquarters site, will expand Xcellerex's capacity to provide bridge biomanufacturing services for clients that are planning or building their own FlexFactory facilities. The plant will also support Xcellerex's contract manufacturing operations.
Researchers have been fascinated for a long time by learning and memory formation, and many questions are still open. Bochum-based neuroscientists Prof Dr Denise Manahan-Vaughan and Dr Hardy Hagena have discovered a key building block for this complex process.
