ARMGO Pharma, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing innovative small molecule drugs known as "Rycals™," which act on the ryanodine receptor calcium-release channel (RyR), announced that a study published today in the prestigious scientific journal Cell reveals the underlying role of calcium leak through the RyR as an important contributor to stress-induced cognitive dysfunction.
Currently, there are an estimated 46 million people worldwide living with dementia. There is currently no cure, and no way to prevent the onset of dementia. The Wayback Project was created by a group of friends and former colleagues who wanted to create virtual reality films that allow patients to go 'back in time'.
Peter Turkeltaub, MD, PhD, assistant professor of neurology and rehabilitation medicine, and director of the Cognitive Recovery Lab, has been chosen by an international society of neurologists to receive its annual award for excellence in behavioral neurology research.
Researchers at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) in Lebanon have found that administering a lidocaine lollipop as a single-agent anesthetic to patients undergoing an upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy procedure eliminated the need for sedation in the majority of patients.
