UT Southwestern Medical Center researchers, collaborating with colleagues in Germany, have for the first time identified antibodies associated with transplant rejection of otherwise healthy kidneys.
Merck, known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, and BGI, the world's largest genomics center, announced today that they have established a collaboration to focus on the discovery and development of biomarkers and genomic technologies.
People living in predominately Hispanic neighborhoods are less likely to receive CPR from a bystander following an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest compared to people living in non-Hispanic neighborhoods, researchers from Penn Medicine and the Duke University of School of Medicine reported in the journal Circulation.
Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA, the world's largest provider of dialysis products and services, is expanding its dialysis services business in the Russian Federation. The company announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire KNC (KRAEVOY NEFROLOGICHESKIY CENTR), a private operator of dialysis clinics in Russia's Krasnodar region. The acquired operations will add approximately $25 million in annual revenue and are expected to be accretive to earnings in the first year after closing of the transaction.
New research shows that a less-toxic combination of a targeted immune-based drug and a chemotherapy drug can produce long-term remissions in some chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients. And it does so without increasing the risk of later therapy-related myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia, which can often occur with a three-drug combination used to treat these patients.
