A 15-year research and advocacy effort to make microwave ovens safer has led to a change in national manufacturing standards that will make microwaves more difficult for young children to open, protecting them from the severe microwave-related burns that scar hundreds of kids under 5 years old in the United States each year.
A new study by researchers at St George's, University of London published in the journal Circulation has found that current European screening guidelines used by sports organisations to detect heart abnormalities lead to over-investigation and potential false disqualification of black athletes with perfectly healthy hearts.
In a new study issued by the American Enterprise Institute-Brookings Joint Center for Regulatory Studies, Prieger found that, while still at increased risk, drivers who use cell phones are less likely to have accidents by as much as 36 percent than previous studies predicted.
