Researchers at University of California San Diego School of Medicine and Emory University School of Medicine found that a diet low in free sugars resulted in significant improvement in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in adolescent boys.
The John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center announced today important research findings that will be presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting taking place June 4 - 8, 2010 in Chicago. Research highlights include a comparison of first-line treatments for an aggressive form of lymphoma, the efficacy and safety of a new genetically engineered cancer therapy, and the value of a commonly used tool for staging lymphoma.
Whole-exome DNA sequencing - a technology that saves time and money by sequencing only protein-coding regions and not the entire genome - may routinely miss detecting some genetic variations associated with disease, according to Penn State researchers who have developed new ways to identify such omissions.
Beta-blockers are often used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases. However, in some patients they can trigger or exacerbate psoriasis, an inflammatory skin disease.
