Lab-on-a-chip (LOC) development has skyrocketed in the last couple of years due to constant efforts in harnessing microfluidics and µTAS to improve the LOC design and function. The distinct advantages that they bestow on applications are pushing the commercial potential of LOCs.
ProMedica, one of Ohio's largest healthcare systems, is partnering with Kaonsoft, an enterprise mobility software company, to form Kapios Health, a healthcare technology company that will focus on the development of medical applications created by ProMedica Innovations inventors.
Genetic information that determines hair color or whether an individual might develop a particular cancer is passed from one generation to the next through DNA. Genes encoded in the DNA contain information, but a process called methylation is one factor that often controls how that information is expressed.
Among the many new findings presented at the EAACI-WAO World Allergy and Asthma Congress 2013 in Milan from 22-26 June 2013 is new Australian research providing proof for pre-birth programming of food allergies, showing that prenatal environmental factors may already determine predispositions for food allergies rather than only genetic factors.
