A small subset of patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG) account for a large proportion of all glaucoma-related charges in the United States, according to new data published by researchers at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center and Washington University, St. Louis.
Icagen, Inc. today announced that results from a study of ICA-105665 in patients with photosensitive epilepsy will be presented at the Tenth Eilat Conference on New Antiepileptic Drugs on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Eilat, Israel. The presentation will be made by Dorothee Kasteleijn-Nolst Trenite, MD, University Medical Centre Utrecht and Universita di Roma Sapienza II, Rome, Italy.
Yale University scientists have found a gene that appears to play a key role in the onset of depression. This could mean new avenues of therapy for the disease. The gene in question is called MKP-1 and was identified after comparing the genetic codes of 21 deceased people who had been diagnosed with depression with those of 18 otherwise healthy individuals. The findings were published in the journal Nature Medicine on 17th of October.
Those in the United States living with HIV/AIDS are more likely to use marijuana than those in Kenya, South Africa or Puerto Rica to alleviate their symptoms, according to a new study published in Clinical Nursing Research, published by SAGE.
