A new study finds that white women more frequently take more of the life-prolonging supplemental therapies used to treat breast cancer than African-American women.
Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) have an increased risk for stroke and are often prescribed oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy. OAC therapy can prevent disastrous strokes, but at the expense of increased bleeding risks. There are now well-established guidelines to assess the risk of stroke and bleeding in AF patients to determine whether OAC is needed.
New three-dimensional imaging of the human placenta has been developed to help understand the reasons for fetal growth restriction - a condition which affects thousands in the UK alone.
Even as the opioid epidemic dominated national attention over the past decade, the rate of overdose deaths involving cocaine, methamphetamine and other stimulants tripled, a new study in veterans suggests.
Oncologists and cancer patients could improve the results of drug therapies by making real-time decisions about treatment options using an innovation developed in Purdue University's College of Pharmacy.
