Physicians ask patients two universal questions to determine whether they are healthy enough to undergo and recover from a major non-cardiac surgical procedure: whether or not they can climb a set of stairs, and if they can walk two blocks on level ground.
Taking one type of cell and transforming it into another type is now possible. Cells taken from the thymus have been transformed into skin cells,a discovery that may have important ramifications for the field of organ regeneration.
Aetna today announced second-quarter 2012 operating earnings of $452.0 million, or $1.31 per share, compared to the $1.35 per share reported in the second quarter of 2011.
