An international team of scientists studying acute forms of Leukaemia have identified a new drug target to inhibit the genes which are vital for the growth of diseased cells. The research, reported in EMBO Molecular Medicine, reveals how leukaemia cells become 'addicted' to genes, which if targeted could prevent diseased cells from developing.
Around the globe, many nations are realizing that the potential for bioterrorism isn't just about the U.S., officials say. And because an intentional introduction of bacteria, a virus or a toxin could happen anywhere, the World Organization for Animal Health is issuing a paper aimed at prevention.
OraSure Technologies, Inc., the market leader in oral fluid diagnostics, announced today that it has enrolled the first subject in its final phase of clinical studies for United States Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") approval of the Company's OraQuick® Rapid HIV-1/2 test for sale in the U.S. consumer or over-the-counter ("OTC") market.
