The Spanish research centre Innotex has developed a device that enables automatic suturing of the large intestine after being sectioned during cancer colon surgery. The novelty of the system, called Insewing, is that it allows the use of absorbable suture material instead of metallic staples which are currently used and could cause intestinal stiffness and obstruction.
In the current study, the authors evaluate several different competitive ELISAs that could be used to measure serum antibodies.
K-V Pharmaceutical Company announced today that it has received notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") of the successful completion of an inspection of the Company's facilities and approval to return its first product to market. Under the Company's Consent Decree, successful FDA inspections of the Company's quality systems, processes and facilities are expected to be required before K-V is permitted to resume manufacturing and shipment of particular products.
A new study has found that men with low estrogen levels have an increased risk for future hip fracture, and those with both low estrogen and low testosterone levels have the greatest risk.
According to a 20-year study published in the July issue of CHEST, the peer-reviewed journal of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), patients with asthma were 12 times more likely than nonasthmatics to develop COPD later in life.
