A new study has reported evidence that SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses (SC2r-CoVs) are circulating in bats in Southeast Asia. This has extended the geographical area where SC2r-CoVs are found, underscoring the urgency of identifying the immediate ancestor of SARS-CoV-2.
A bill in the House, which would make it easier for family members and authorities to force people to be treated, is giving some lawmakers pause, while NPR reports how counties in California have been slow to adopt a 2002 state law that gives authorities the ability to mandate outpatient mental health care for people who have been refusing it.
Researchers have advised that people need to leave their parcels and packages unopened and untouched for 72 hours to help stop the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19 disease. The virus, as is evident from the raging pandemic across the world, is highly infectious and could survive on surfaces for up to 72 hours.
