Rhode Island is the fifteenth state to have the Interstate Compact for Medical Licensure introduced in its Legislature, with the introduction of HB 5571 by Representatives Joseph M. McNamara, Joseph J. Solomon, Jr., Michael A. Morin, David A. Coughlin, Jr., and Mia A. Ackerman and S. 423 by Senators Christopher Scott Ottiano, Joshua Miller, Donna Nesselbush, and Adam Satchell.
Net sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 were $31,147,000 as compared to $33,280,000 for the same period of the prior fiscal year, a decrease of 6%. Net earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 were $5,980,000 or $0.15 per diluted share, decreases of 18% and 17%, respectively, compared to the second quarter of fiscal 2009. Diluted common shares outstanding for fiscal 2010 and 2009 were 41,177,000 and 41,133,000, respectively.

An Andalusian team of researchers led by the University of Granada has demonstrated the efficacy of a new drug against cancerogenic stem cells, which cause the onset and development of cancer, of relapse after chemotherapy and metastasis. This drug, called Bozepinib, has proved to be effective in tests with mice.
