Vegetarians appear to have a healthier biomarker profile than meat-eaters, and this applies to adults of any age and weight, and is also unaffected by smoking and alcohol consumption, according to a new study in over 166,000 UK adults, being presented at this week's European Congress on Obesity (ECO), held online this year.
Some infections caused by bacteria can have devastating results on health. This is the case of the infections caused by Aeromonas hydrophila, which can be found in water and, if ingested orally, can sometimes cause gastrointestinal upsets that require treatment with antibiotics.
Research, published today, has shown that an acute gout attack is more than twice as likely to occur during the night or early morning hours as during the day. The increased prevalence of gout attacks at night time was observed even after 24 hours with no alcohol and low purine intake.
Adding the targeted therapy ribociclib to hormone therapy significantly improved overall survival (OS) in premenopausal patients with advanced hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer, according to results of the MONALEESA-7 Phase III clinical trial led by researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
