Physician-scientists at Oregon Health & Science University Doernbecher Children's Hospital are challenging the way pediatric neurologists think about brain injury in the pre-term infant. In a study published online in the Jan. 16 issue of Science Translational Medicine, the OHSU Doernbecher researchers report for the first time that low blood and oxygen flow to the developing brain does not, as previously thought, cause an irreversible loss of brain cells, but rather disrupts the cells' ability to fully mature.
CytRx Corporation a biopharmaceutical company specializing in oncology, today announced that it has been awarded a nontaxable grant of approximately $735,000 related to its INNO-206, tamibarotene and bafetinib programs under the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project Program included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, H.R. 3590, signed into law in March 2010.
Trinity Medical Center achieved a major victory today in its effort to gain state regulatory approval for a new, state-of-the-art hospital facility on Highway 280. Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) James Hampton has issued his recommendation in favor of granting the required Certificate of Need (CON) for Trinity's relocation from its 44-year old campus on Montclair Road to the new hospital facility.
