Researchers from Umeå University, Sweden and University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, have compiled the first global estimates of coeliac disease and associated mortality, just published in the journal PLoS ONE.
It may sound like something from a TV medical drama, but the incidence of surgeons leaving something behind in the body is very real at hospitals across the country. For decades, surgical teams have relied on counting - and recounting - the sponges, needles, blades, retractors, and other items used during operations.
Deploying a suspension of cells generated from a ReCell® medical device onto a skin donor site can speed up healing by 30.7% and deliver a superior final outcome, according to the results of a randomized controlled trial involving 106 patients who received skin grafts, Avita Medical, said today.
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) welcomed the recent Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval this month of encorafenib in combination with cetuximab for patients with advanced BRAF-mutated colorectal cancer.
