InSite Vision Incorporated, a company developing novel ophthalmic therapeutics, today announced that patient enrollment was recently completed in the company's Phase 1/2 clinical trial of ISV-303, a novel compound being developed to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with ocular surgery.
Researchers have uncovered new evidence suggesting factors other than genes could cause obesity, finding that genetically identical cells store widely differing amounts of fat depending on subtle variations in how cells process insulin.
A liquid adhesive made from a protein found in human tissue is effective in sealing corneal wounds and may even be better than stitches, according to results of a Johns Hopkins study.
For patients with brain arteriovenous malformations, not having surgery or getting radiation therapy can result in an almost 70-per-cent lower risk of having a stroke or dying, researchers find.
"For an orphan disease like Batten, which has such a clear-cut course of deterioration and no present cure, this grant is transformative both for these families and for us, as clinicians and researchers."
