VIVUS, Inc. today announced that data from a previously reported phase 2 study evaluating the safety and efficacy of the investigational drug Qnexa for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea were presented at SLEEP 2010, the 24th Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies.
Sudden cardiac death accounts for approximately 10% of natural deaths, most of which are due to ventricular fibrillation. Each year it causes 300,000 deaths in the United States and 20,000 in Spain.
The gut bacteria are related to muscle mass and physical function, in a relationship called the gut-muscle axis, which has been studied in mouse models and in young adults. A new study looks at the GMA in older adults for the first time.
Even though 60% of the global population resides in the African and Asian continents, only a small portion of these genomes have been sequenced, representing less than 0.2% of data currently collected. There are more than 4 billion people who are not represented well with the current genome sequencing efforts.
