Scientists have pinned down the constituent of olive oil that gives greatest protection from heart attack and stroke.
The Associated Press: Although many healthcare providers are making the jump to computerized medical records, an "e-chart stored in one doctor's computer too often can't be read by another's across town." Surescripts, "the country's largest network for paperless prescribing," is expanding "so that doctors around the country can choose to share medical reports, X-rays and other health data over its network much as they send e-prescriptions to drugstores today, regardless of what competing brand of computerized health records they use."
CSL Behring announced today that the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has approved Hizentra (Immune Globulin Subcutaneous [Human]) for the treatment of primary immunodeficiency (PID) and for the treatment of secondary immunodeficiency (SID). Hizentra is now the first and only 20 percent subcutaneous immunoglobulin (SCIg) therapy in the world for the treatment of these conditions, both of which belong to group of rare and serious diseases of the immune system.
The goal will be to ensure the program's fiscal sustainability into the future — a frequent criticism from GOP critics who hope to repeal the program.
A series of illustrations and charts designed as decision aids for parents of children with minor head injuries helped them communicate with emergency medicine physicians and make informed decisions about their child's care, according to a study that will appear Sept. 21 in JAMA Network Open.
