Is there a link between the risk of breast cancer and the working environment? A study published in BioMed Central's open access journal Environmental Health provides further evidence on this previously neglected research topic, confirming that certain occupations do pose a higher risk of breast cancer than others, particularly those that expose the worker to potential carcinogens and endocrine disrupters.
Merck KGaA announced today that it has acquired Suzhou Taizhu Technology Development Co. Ltd. ("Taizhu"), a leading supplier of effect pigments located in Taicang near Shanghai, China. With total revenues of more than € 14 million in 2008 and 300 employees Taizhu is one of the biggest effect pigments companies in the Chinese market. The acquisition is of high strategic importance to the Merck pigments business.
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, and biopharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company, announced today that they have expanded their clinical trial materials supply chain relationship. As part of a new five-year agreement, the Fisher Clinical Services business of Thermo Fisher will take over responsibility for Lilly's in-house clinical trial materials manufacturing, packaging and labeling operations on-site at the Lilly Technology Center – North in Indianapolis. This transition is expected to be completed in the summer of 2010.
