Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc. ("OBI") a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing a portfolio of products for the critical care market, today announced that the protocol of their phase 3 trial for levosimendan has been published on ClinicalTrials.gov, "Levosimendan in Patients with Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction Undergoing Heart Surgery on Cardiopulmonary Bypass."
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Onglyza (saxagliptin), a once-daily tablet to treat Type 2 diabetes in adults. The medication is intended to be used with diet and exercise to control high blood sugar levels.
Dr Karen Rosenbloom from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Hertfordshire and Ruth Goldstein from the Midlands have won first prize in the regional Health and Social Care Awards awarded by the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement. Their research now goes forward to the national awards final which will take place on 13 December.
Although normal inflammation plays an important role in helping to fight off infections, there is mounting evidence that chronic inflammation is linked to increased risk of tumor development. A new study conducted by researchers in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University is helping to shed light on the important link between inflammation and cancer, and how pre-existing inflammation may aid in the metastatic process.
Today Moscamed made the first releases of Oxitec GM mosquitoes to mark the launch of a new programme to control the dengue mosquito Aedes aegypti in the town of Jacobina in the State of Bahia.
