A new article in Journal of Neurophysiology reports that professional ballet dancers have more control over their muscles than individuals with no dance training. Researchers from Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology found that ballet training optimized muscle coordination not only for dancing but also everyday movements.
The onset of schizophrenia is not easy to predict. Although it is associated with as many as 14 genes in the human genome, the prior presence of schizophrenia in the family is not enough to determine whether one will succumb to the mind-altering condition. The disease also has a significant environmental link.
Telik, Inc. reported positive interim data from a Phase 2 trial of its Telintra (TLK199) drug candidate in myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The data were reported in two presentations at the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology in San Diego.
