An international team of leukemia scientists has discovered how to predict healthy individuals at risk of developing acute myeloid leukemia, an aggressive and often deadly blood cancer.
A UK leukemia charity, Leukaemia CARE, has launched the Spot Leukaemia campaign to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of leukemia after a survey revealed that leukemia diagnoses are commonly delayed due to poor understanding.
De La Rue Identity Systems, a world expert in secure government identity solutions, announced that Malta's new upgraded ePassport system with Extended Access Control (EAC) capability went live on 28th June. This new solution delivers a higher level of security and access control, in accordance with the EU regulation for all Schengen Member States, for the addition of a second biometric - two fingerprints - to the data already stored on the chip. Its delivery is a key milestone in the Government's ongoing strategic identity management plan.
While aspirin remains a crucial and cost-effective therapy for the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases, research suggests that a significant percentage of the 25 million Americans on a chronic aspirin regimen are "aspirin resistant," or do not achieve sufficient antiplatelet effects from aspirin.
Although it reads like European license plate number, a protein known as ZMYND8 has demonstrated its ability to block metastasis-linked genes in prostate cancer, according to a study at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
