Indiana University has been awarded $9.2 million from the National Science Foundation to lead two high-speed international network services. The awards provide IU with $4.6 million to continue the TransPAC3 network connection to Asia, and an additional $4.6 million for a new connection to Europe, named ACE - America Connects to Europe.
Current drugs used to treat heart failure and arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat) have limited effectiveness and have side effects. New basic science findings from a University of Iowa study suggest a way that treatments could potentially be refined so that they work better and target only key heart-related mechanisms.
Intellikine, a leader in the development of small molecule drugs targeting the PI3K/mTOR pathway, and the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium (MMRC) today announced the initiation of a phase I trial of INK128, a novel, orally-available small molecule kinase inhibitor of the TORC1 and TORC2 complexes, in patients with multiple myeloma.
Perrigo today announced that its licensor and supplier Synthon has received final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Levocetirizine tablets, a generic version of Xyzal® tablets from UCB/Sepracor, which is marketed in the U.S. by Sanofi-Aventis. Perrigo has the exclusive rights from Synthon to sell and distribute the product in the U.S.
For years cardiologists have threaded hair-like surgical instruments through arteries in the wrist, as an access point to perform procedures on the heart.
