A report in Cancer Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, highlights a new biomarker that may be useful in identifying patients with recurrent glioblastoma, or brain tumors, who would respond better to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy, specifically cediranib.
A new two-step technique to repair herniated discs uses hyaluronic acid gel to re-inflate the disc and collagen gel to seal the hole, essentially repairing ruptured discs like you'd repair a flat tire.
University of Utah College of Nursing faculty member Kathie Supiano, MS, LCSW was recognized by Utah Business Magazine today as one of its 2009 Health Care Heroes. This annual recognition acknowledges excellence and innovation within the health care system and contributes to continuously improving the standard of care that Utah's organizations provide. The event took place at the Grand America Hotel located in downtown Salt Lake City.
Data presented as a Late Breaking Clinical Trial at Heart Rhythm 2011, the Heart Rhythm Society's 32nd Annual Scientific Sessions, shows the clinical benefit of cardiac resynchronization therapy versus conventional right-ventricle pacing in improving heart failure in patients undergoing atrioventricular junction ablation for permanent atrial fibrillation.
Not surprisingly, a new study has shown that keeping active can keep the body young and healthy. The study comes from the researchers at the University of Birmingham and King's College London who were looking at the health of older adults who had been exercising most of their adult lives. The research has been reported in two papers published this week in the journal Aging Cell.
