Emory University Rollins School of Public Health researchers will present Nov. 11 on a range of topics at the American Public Health Association's annual meeting in Philadelphia, including a study that found reduced absenteeism among employees participating in a large-scale worksite wellness program.
In just over a month following the FDA's October 2010 approval of Roche's Herceptin for HER2-positive metastatic gastric cancer, more than 80 percent of U.S. physicians report using the drug, according to new research by GfK HealthCare.
Some 20 percent of breast cancer survivors will suffer from lymphedema, a potentially severe side effect of treatment that makes arms swell with lymph. The disease is often overlooked, but commercially available app-based technology now makes early detection easier, allowing for proactive treatment.
Vitrolife: VINNOVA announced in a press release yesterday that they are going to provide support of SEK 3.6 million for Vitrolife's research project for optimized culture media to enable the clinical use of stem cells. "It is very pleasing news and will enable more intensive work in an area that we very much believe in for the future", says Magnus Nilsson, Vitrolife's CEO.
