In this post on USAID's "IMPACTblog," the agency describes its activities in "assisting communities and individuals impacted by the cyclones in Madagascar, Mozambique, and Malawi."
A decades-old cancer mystery has been solved by researchers at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). "We not only found a critical tumor suppressor gene, but have revealed a master switch for a tumor suppressive network that means more targeted and effective cancer therapy in the future," said CSHL Associate Professor Alea Mills, Ph.D.
Nurses at Northside Medical Center will conduct informational picketing in front of the hospital on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., including some who will wear gags to demonstrate their concerns that management proposals in current contract talks could limit their ability to speak out for patient safety and quality care.
The American Association for Cancer Research, in cooperation with the University of Catania Ph.D. Oncology Program and the Italian League Against Cancer of Catania, announces the establishment of the "Margaret Foti Award" for the best thesis in translational oncology. The first awards will be given on Dec. 2, 2010, in Catania, Italy.
