Physicians at UT Southwestern Medical Center soon will begin implanting a new device designed to improve breathing in patients with upper spinal-cord injuries or other diseases that keep them from breathing independently.
With the approach of the Olympic Games, a group of researchers throughout the world thought that it would be a good time to draw the attention of the world to the health dangers of being physically inactive.
Mammography Reporting System, Inc. (MRS) will demonstrate their newest high risk indicator at RSNA 2009, in Chicago. MRS is the only company in the industry offering three separate high risk indicators to alert radiologists of potentially at-risk patients at the very point they interpret a mammogram.
Facet Solutions, Inc. today announced that it has finished compiling two year data from its lumbar stenosis pilot study in the US. At two years, patients in the ACADIA™ study experienced significant and sustained improvement in Oswestry Disability Index, VAS back pain and VAS leg pain. There were no re-operations in any of the patients, and all patients met the definition of success for ODI improvement.
Researchers have developed an antibody that can cure mice of West Nile virus (WNV) infection, a disease for which no specific treatment exists, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has announced.
