Sinovac Biotech Ltd. announced today that it begins the production of a vaccine against influenza A (H1N1) virus. The virus seed was received from U.S. CDC and was delivered to the company on June 8, 2009.
Columbia University biologists have revealed a mechanism by which bacterial cells in crowded, oxygen-deprived environments access oxygen for energy production, ensuring survival of the cell. The finding could explain how some bacteria, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), are able to thrive in oxygen-poor environments like biofilms and resist antibiotics.
Society for Women's Health Research President and CEO Phyllis Greenberger, M.S.W., issued the following statement in response to the decision of Philip Morris USA to introduce pink "Purse Packs" for some Virginia Slims cigarette brands by early 2009.
The American Dental Association (ADA) looks forward to working with Congress in continuing to reduce oral health disease in Indian country, said Dr. Jerry Long, chairman of the ADA's Council on Government Affairs.
