Researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System have received a $1.2 million grant from New York State to advance their promising technology for treating paralysis and other effects of spinal cord injuries (SCI).
Curis, Inc., a drug development company seeking to develop next generation targeted small molecule drug candidates for cancer treatment, today announced that a research paper describing the biological activity of its HDAC, EGFR and HER2 inhibitor, CUDC-101, was published online in the journal Cancer Research and also will be published in an upcoming print version of the journal.
For most cancer patients, primary tumours are often not the most deadly. Instead, it is the metastatic tumours - tumours that spread from their original location to other parts of the body - that are the cause of most cancer deaths.
IBBL will over the next three years contribute to the Interreg project Codex4SMEs. The € 3.13 million project aims to build a transnational network to accelerate the development of so-called companion diagnostics by small and medium-sized businesses and hence to promote personalized medicine in Europe.
The New York Times: "Fearing that health insurance premiums may shoot up in the next few years, Senate Democrats laid a foundation on Tuesday for federal regulation of rates, four weeks after President Obama signed a law intended to rein in soaring health costs." Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., introduced legislation that would allow the federal health secretary to block "any rate increase found to be unreasonable," an authority that would be shared with some state insurance officials.
