North Carolina Central University's Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute is launching a pilot program to examine how research-based health findings can be used more effectively to address health disparities and improve patient care in minority populations.
Scientists in Cambridge have discovered that a brain protein called syntaxin enables fatty molecules, used widely in health supplements, to work in the brain to make it function properly. Lead Scientist, Dr Bazbek Davletov and his colleague Dr Colin Rickman from the Medical Research Council (MRC) Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK report their findings in the journal Chemistry and Biology.
Researchers at the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München have discovered that too much of the oncogene Bcl-3 leads to chronic intestinal diseases.
Scientists have uncovered how nerve cells in the spinal cord are organized in precise patterns during embryo development - a finding that could give insight into regenerative medicine.
