A new study presented on 18th February at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Annual Meeting reported that that warm-up stretching had no effect on whether runners sustained an injury or not. It did not prevent injuries or result in more injuries.
A novel way of increasing the amounts of antibiotics produced by bacteria has been discovered that could markedly improve the yields of these important compounds in commercial production. It could also be valuable in helping to discover new compounds. With the ever-growing threat from antibiotic resistance, these tools will be very useful in ensuring that we have enough of these useful compounds in the future.
Developing resistance to chemotherapy is a nearly universal, ultimately lethal consequence for cancer patients with solid tumors - such as those of the breast, prostate, lung and colon - that have metastasized, or spread, throughout the body.
