Toshiba to showcase episode-based care solutions at RSNA annual meeting

Revised guidelines for first aid

The American Red Cross and American Heart Association today announced changes to guidelines for administering first aid. Among the revisions are updated recommendations for the treatment of snake bites, anaphylaxis (shock), jellyfish stings and severe bleeding. The First Aid Guidelines are being published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.

World experts shed light on the extent of dangers of night-time artificial lighting

"The most important thing for us is to raise awareness of the dangers of artificial light at night and we have already come a long way now that the American Medical Association (AMA) recently announced its new policy recognizing adverse health effects of exposure to light at night and encouraging further research into the matter," said Prof. Abraham Haim, a leading authority on light pollution, who coordinated the 21st International Congress of Zoology (ICZ) that was held last week at the University of Haifa, Israel.

OrSense's NBM 200MP non-invasive Hb measurement system more accurate than invasive POC devices

OrSense Ltd., developer of monitors for non-invasive measurements of various blood parameters, presented in an oral presentation at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) annual meeting in San Diego, results showing that hemoglobin (Hb) measurements obtained by its NBM 200MP, a non-invasive Hb measurement system, showed accurate performance during hemorrhage conditions compared with invasive point of care (POC) devices.
