Heart defects are the most common form of congenital malformations affecting newborns. Infants who were prenatally diagnosed with congenital heart disease (CHD) are more stable and have better outcomes than infants who were diagnosed after birth. Diagnosing CHD in a fetus also allows mothers to educate themselves on heart malformations, consider their options, and potentially plan for intervention or surgery after birth.

Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced nearly 20 presentations evaluating carfilzomib and ONX 0803 (SB 1518) in hematological cancers at the 51st American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting December 5-8, 2009 in New Orleans, LA. Study provides rare evidence on effect of Iraq War on child marriage, early childbearing

A study published today is the first detailed assessment of whether the 8-year Iraq War had an effect on childbearing. The study found that before the war, from 1997 to 2003, adolescent fertility in Iraq was stable at just below 70 births per 1,000 girls aged 15-19.
