Alcohol intake increases chances of developing breast cancer, new study confirms

Saying that the link between alcohol and cancer is dangerous is nothing new.. Five Spanish universities and more than 300,000 female volunteers participated in a European investigation that is now confirming that alcohol intake increases the chances of developing breast cancer. This risk quadruples with the intake of each daily glass of wine or beer.

FDA clears Olerup SSP's Taq-polymerase-free HLA typing kit for sale in the U.S.

Olerup SSP, a wholly owned subsidiary of LinkMed (STO:LMED), has had its Taq-polymerase-free HLA typing kit registered and cleared by the FDA. This means that Olerup SSP's entire product range for HLA typing, with or without Taq polymerase, can now be marketed and sold to a greater number of healthcare centers in North America.

Researchers at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory have developed an imaging protocol that allows them to visualize the activity of the brain's reward circuitry in both normal individuals and those addicted to drugs. The technique could lead to better insight into why people take recreational drugs as well as help determine which treatment strategies might be most effective.
