Scientists test new dry powder measles vaccine that can be inhaled

Sustained high vaccination coverage is key to preventing deaths from measles. Despite the availability of a vaccine, measles remains an important killer of children worldwide, particularly in less-developed regions where vaccination coverage is limited. The Chinese Patent Office has issued Nutraceutix, Inc. patent No. 02823678.5 for BIO-tract. It is the fourth international patent, from many patents pending, that the technology has been awarded recently based on BIO-tract's ability to protect sensitive ingredients such as probiotic organisms from stomach acid on their way to optimal release sites in the intestinal tract.

Alimera receives FDA CRL for ILUVIEN NDA

pSivida Corp., a leader in developing sustained release, drug delivery products for treatment of back-of-the-eye diseases, including the investigational drug ILUVIEN® for the treatment of Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), today announced that Alimera Sciences, Inc, pSivida's collaborative partner, received a Complete Response Letter (CRL) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding its New Drug Application (NDA) for ILUVIEN. The FDA issued the CRL to communicate its decision that the NDA cannot be approved in its present form.
