Survey: Large majority of Americans continue to favor stronger gun-safety policies

A large majority of Americans—including gun owners—continue to support stronger policies to prevent gun violence than are present in current federal and most state law, according to a new national public opinion survey conducted by researchers with the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

NovaSterilis reports significant findings from sterilization of absorbable suture study

NovaSterilis Inc. a leader in the development and commercialization of supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2) technology in collaboration with CC Chu Ph.D (Cornell) reports successful findings from research funded by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) phase l grant. These results meet the study goal to sterilize absorbable sutures to a sterility assurance level 10-6 (SAL6) without chemical or mechanical degradation. NovaSterilis intends to apply for phase II funding to develop the process ready for commercial application.

High oxygen delivery after postcardiac arrest leads to higher rate of death in hospitals

Patients who have excessive oxygen levels in arterial blood (hyperoxia) following resuscitation from cardiac arrest have a higher rate of death in the hospital than similar patients without arterial hyperoxia, according to a study in the June 2 issue of JAMA.
