Three-drug combination reduces all-cause mortality in COPD patients

Once-daily treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with an inhaler combining fluticasone furoate (FF), umeclidinium (UMEC) and vilanterol (VI) reduced all-cause mortality by 42 percent, according to new research published online in the American Thoracic Society's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

Gelesis presents lead products data at Obesity 2010 Annual Meeting

Gelesis, Inc., a Boston-based company focused on breakthrough treatments for obesity, presented new results at Obesity 2010, the 28th Annual Scientific Meeting of The Obesity Society (San Diego). The connection stems from solid research including a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, stating hearing loss is about twice as common in adults with diabetes compared to those who do not have the disease.
