New strategies required to get blacks and Asians to participate in cancer trials

The better informed people are about cancer clinical trials, the more likely they are overall to consider participating in a trial, according to a UC Davis study published in today's issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology. New initiatives to stop Americans smoking

HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson announced today a series of initiatives designed to help Americans quit smoking. The initiatives include the opening of a national quitline number (1-800-QUITNOW) that puts users in touch with programs that can help them give up tobacco.

Past COVID-19 infection does not completely protect against reinfection in young people

Although antibodies induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection are largely protective, they do not completely protect against reinfection in young people, as evidenced through a longitudinal, prospective study of more than 3,000 young, healthy members of the US Marines Corps conducted by researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Naval Medical Research Center, published April 15 in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine.
