GUMC receives NIH grant to establish Center of Excellence for Health Disparities

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has awarded a $6.1 million grant over the next five years to Georgetown University Medical Center to establish the Center of Excellence for Health Disparities in Our Nation's Capital.

TBI and NWTS to serve surgeons and hospitals by supplying transplantable tissues

TBI/Tissue Banks International, one of the nation's largest eye and tissue banking networks, and Northwest Tissue Services (NWTS), a Puget Sound Blood Center program, have entered into a partnership that will allow both organizations to more efficiently serve surgeons and hospitals that rely on them for transplantable tissue.

Advances in methodology are allowing researchers to integrate mindfulness experiences with brain imaging and neural signal data to form testable hypotheses about the science - and the reported mental health benefits - of the practice.
