Novartis files marketing authorisation with EMA for NVA237 to treat COPD

Sosei Group Corporation, today announces that NVA237 (glycopyrronium bromide), a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) being investigated as a once-daily treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), has been filed by Novartis for marketing authorisation with the European Medicines Agency (EMA), under the brand-name Seebri Breezhaler, triggering a $5m milestone payment to Sosei.

CCCA to improve Indigenous health services with cultural competency training for NSW GPs and nurses

The Centre for Cultural Competence Australia (CCCA) will provide new online Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural competency training to health professionals in New South Wales. Initially, 550 employees from the NSW General Practice Network will be trained in cultural competency, in order to improve the provision of health services for Indigenous communities throughout the state.

Regular Yoga eases chronic back pain: Study

A new study found that those with chronic back pain might benefit from regular yoga. Three months of weekly yoga classes eased back pain more than the usual course of care — an informative back pain booklet said researchers. Even a year later, patients with chronic back pain who had participated in yoga classes reported less pain than those who hadn't been assigned the classes.
