Latest data shows positive trend in how cancer is diagnosed in England

The proportion of cancers diagnosed as a result of emergency presentation at hospital has decreased. At the same time, the proportion of cancers diagnosed through urgent GP referral with a suspicion of cancer (known as the two week wait) has increased.

Study finds cognitive behaviour therapy safe for chronic fatigue syndrome

The aim of this study is to examine the frequency and severity of symptom deterioration during cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Patients receiving CBT do not experience more frequent or more severe symptom deterioration than untreated patients. The reported deterioration during CBT seems to reflect the natural variation in symptoms. Thus, CBT is not only a helpful, but also a safe treatment for CFS.

Poll survey shows majority of uninsured Americans unaware of individual mandate and state exchanges

While the percentage of Americans without health insurance has fallen from 22 to 15 percent over the past 11 months, a new Harris Poll survey conducted on behalf of the national non-profit Transamerica Center for Health Studies (TCHS) found that nearly half (46 percent) of those who remain uninsured have still not heard of the individual mandate, and 43 percent have not heard of the Exchanges where they may be eligible to purchase health insurance.
