Adding quinoa to the gluten-free diet of patients with celiac disease is well-tolerated, and does not exacerbate the condition, according to new research published in The American Journal of Gastroenterology. Dr. Victor F. Zevallos, from the Department of Gastroenterology, King's College London, United Kingdom, evaluated the in-vivo effects of consuming quinoa in adult celiac patients. Quinoa, a highly nutritious grain, is traditionally recommended as part of a gluten-free diet.

Precision BioSciences receive $3 million to develop DNE technology

Precision BioSciences, today announced that it has been awarded over $3 million across four government grants. These grants were each awarded to Precision during the 4th Quarter of 2010 and came from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Treasury Department, the National Institute of Health, and the State of North Carolina.

The University of Florida (UF) has started enrolling subjects in a new study testing the oral drug developed by Sound Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SPI-1005) to prevent hearing loss caused by loud music. Loud music or noise can induce temporary and permanent auditory threshold shifts (TTS or PTS).
