"A study released Thursday challenges two widely-held assumptions about medical care: that people who see a primary care physician will end up healthier than those who don't, and that having more primary care doctors in an area guarantees better access for patients"

New genetic test can predict cleft lip or palate

Researchers have developed a new genetic test that can help predict whether parents who have one child with the "isolated" form of cleft lip or palate are likely to have a second child with the same birth defect. Isolated clefts account for 70 percent of all cleft lip and palate cases.

Synta presents ganetespib Phase 1, 2 trial results against solid tumors at ASCO 2011

Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp. today presented results at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) from a Phase 2 single agent clinical trial of ganetespib in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and a Phase 1 trial of ganetespib in solid tumors evaluating a twice-weekly administration schedule.
