Research provides new approach to developing better treatment options for scleroderma

Scientists from the Tumor Immunotherapy and Microenvironment research group led by Dr Bassam Janji at the Luxembourg Institute of Health Department of Oncology, and the Swedish pharma company Sprint Bioscience published the results of an innovative approach that turns "cold" tumors "hot". "Cold", immune-desert tumors are classically immunotherapy-resistant.

Study shows how single-cell organisms can somersault or bend their bodies

In a paper appearing in Scientific Reports today, the motion of micro-organisms as they swim through various types of fluid channels show "quite strange and new" responses for single cell organisms, including the performance of somersaults, meandering wanderings, and even a ballistic type of behavior, wrote Sunghwan "Sunny" Jung, a member of the Virginia Tech Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics.

USPTO grants Collegium second patent for tamper-resistant DETERx formulation platform

Collegium Pharmaceutical, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company, today announced that a new patent has been issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) relating to its tamper-resistant DETERxâ„¢ formulation platform. US Patent Number 7,771,707 contains claims that cover Collegium's proprietary extended-release formulations, which are designed to resist dose dumping when subjected to a variety of physical methods of tampering.
