Survey: Most American women have not heard of breast implant-related lymphoma

Only about 1 out 7 American women have heard about breast implant-associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) - an immune system cancer occurring in a small percentage of women with breast implants, according to a new survey.

Poor sanitation in Africa causing hundreds of thousands of deaths, WaterAid report says

"Poor sanitation is causing hundreds of thousands of deaths a year in Africa, where 600 million people - about 70 percent of the population - do not have a safe toilet," and that number is up from 210 million in 1990 and continues to increase as the population grows and people move into poor urban areas, according to a report from WaterAid, titled "Keeping promises: why African leaders need now to deliver on their past water and sanitation commitments," the Guardian reports.

Lawsuit over hepatitis C infections contracted from Doctor

Nearly 30 women got infected with Hepatitis C virus due to a breach in infection prevention protocols by an anaesthetist at a late-term abortion clinic. The incidents occurred at the Croydon Day Surgery in Melbourne's eastern suburbs during an 18-month period when James Latham Peters was working as an anaesthetist. The issue had come to light in the last few weeks. Now a multi million dollar lawsuit against the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria on behalf of the allegedly infected women is being planned.
